| | If I am a member, do I still have to pay for classes? Yes, the membership you have purchased entitles you to access our studios and facilities but each class attended must be paid for. Class fees vary from £4 - £10. (as shown on timetable)
When and how do I pay for the class? You either pay in advance at the reception or you pay the teacher directly. Why do I need to show my membership card every time I come in? So we know you're a regular member and don't charge you for a daily membership. This is also done because of security purposes. Have you got a gym there as well? No. Danceworks offers a wide range of fitness classes that are choreographed to music. Taking part in our fitness classes, you will shape up your body and improve your fitness but you won't damage your joints and muscles like many people do in a gym. What sort of clothes and shoes do I need for the various classes? For Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary classes you should wear comfortable, possibly tight-fitting clothes, whatever you can move best in. Please bring Ballet shoes or socks. If you're doing Flamenco it's best to bring a long, wide skirt, for Martial Arts please wear loose-fitting clothes and no shoes . For Tap, Salsa, Flamenco and all other Latin dances you should wear hard-soled shoes. Streetstyle dance classes are most comfortable in tracksuit bottoms, combats and non-marking trainers. Can I just turn up and book a class? Yes. But we advise that you arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the class. As a member, you can sign in any time of the day for classes where payment is made at the Reception. However, our more popular classes can book up very quickly e.g.: Dancemania, X'Press Yo' Self, Urban Stylez, Street Jam and Jazz classes. For these classes there is a booking system and for only £2 you can guarantee* your place in the class up to seven days in advance. (*Terms & Conditions apply) Are all classes bookable? No. As you have to pay certain teachers directly, there are certain classes you are advised to arrive early for to ensure a place. These are: Belly Dancing, YMonks. Please also ask at Reception if you are unsure of whether to book or not. How can I find out which class is right for me? Danceworks staff is happy to give advice and you can always try different classes on a daily or monthly membership.
