FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I drop-in for class or do I book in advance?
There is no need to book regular classes in advance. However, we advise that you arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the class to secure a place. All classes are on a first come first served basis.
When and how do I pay for the class?
Class payment is made in one of two ways. You either pay in advance at reception or you pay the teacher directly.
How do I choose the right classes for me?
We offer a very wide variety of disciplines at Danceworks and it can be hard to know what to try. When choosing a class consider these points:
1) What are my goals for class (fitness, learn new skills, fun)?
2) What level is appropriate for me?
3) What days and times work into my schedule?
Then consult the Daily Schedule for class descriptions, levels and current class times. If you’d like assistance in this process, please book an appointment for a personal consultation with a member of our staff. The Danceworks team is happy to help. And remember you can always try different classes on a daily or monthly membership before committing to a six month or annual program.
What should I wear for class?
There is no specific dress code. If you’re trying a class for the first time, wear something comfortable and loose fitting you can move freely in. You may find certain styles of clothing associated with certain genres of movement. Many of the dance students wear a leotard and tights whereas fitness students wear tight fitting work out gear. Feel free to ask the instructor of the class or the Danceworks staff if you’re not sure what to wear.
What are the benefits of being a member?
There are many benefits to becoming a member of the Danceworks family. 1) Discounts at various retail shops including Bloch and Capezio. 2) Discounts on all Danceworks merchandise. 3) Full access to our facilities including the lounge with wi-fi and internet. But as a dancer or someone working to stay fit, our strongest benefit is the generous discount to many of the practitioners in our re-known therapy centre, Natureworks. Please see Membership for a comprehensive list of all Membership Benefits.
If I am a member, do I still pay for classes?
Yes. Membership entitles you full access to Danceworks studios and facilities; however, payment is required for each class attended. Class fees vary from £4.50 – £10 and may be found in the daily schedule.
When do I show my membership card?
Membership cards must be shown to reception every time you enter Danceworks not only to avoid getting charged a daily membership fee but also for security purposes.
How does Danceworks assist those in the dance/entertainment industry?
Danceworks is a hub for industry professionals from choreographers to dancers to casting directors. We have several notice boards in the building for auditions, events, industry needs (headshots, dancewear, training) and shows around London and the UK. Danceworks lounge is a great place to network and get in the know about the biz.
Does Danceworks have a gym?
No. Danceworks offers a wide range of fitness classes dedicated to improving your physique and cardiovascular capabilities. But we do not have free weights or cardio machines.
